An AI cover letter that sounds like you

An AI model writes a cover letter in seconds. The trouble is that a letter made from "write a cover letter for this job" reads the same for everyone: "I was excited to see your opening", "I am confident my experience will be valuable". Recruiters see dozens of those a day. Below is how I write letters with AI so that they sound like me.

What a short application letter needs

• Why you are writing. One line: which role and why this company.
• One or two facts from your experience that answer the job requirements directly. With a number, if your resume has one.
• An offer to talk. Short, without "I would be happy to answer any questions".

Three to five sentences are enough. A short letter is easier to read to the end.

How to make the letter sound like you

1. Give the model your own sample

Write one letter yourself, the best you can. Paste it into every request with a note "write in this style". Your letters will keep your sentence length, tone and the way you address people.

2. Forbid made up facts

Models readily add experience you do not have to make the letter fit the job better. Say it plainly in the request: facts only from the resume, every number must appear in the resume word for word. Then check the numbers yourself.

3. Remove stock phrases

List what must not be in the letter: "I was excited", "I am confident that", "I would be happy to", long dashes, exclamation marks. The more specific the list, the more natural the text.

When you apply a lot

Writing every letter this way by hand takes long if you apply to 15-20 jobs a day. Then it makes sense to hand it to an agent: it takes your sample and resume, writes a letter for each opening by the same rules, checks that the letter has no numbers missing from the resume, and sends the application.
